Our Environmental Commitment

Here at Billie’s flower House we are committed to taking care of our environment. We buy 80% of our flowers from local farms. That means within 100 kilometers! And we buy directly from the farmer whenever possible. We support organic farms in the region and are on our way to becoming a certified partner in the Sea to Sky Invasive Species…. Our selection of imported flowers are minimal and always chosen from California over further destinations such as Europe, Australia or South America. We are proud to carry Veri-Flora certified Ecuadorian roses. Veri-Flora is a European certification body that regulates flower farms world-wide. This organisation is similar to organic and fair trade certification bodies in that it only certifies farms that adhere to the regulations on environmental preservation and pesticide use as well as fair treatment, working conditions and pay for local communities.

We recycle 100% of our recyclable papers, packaging and supplies and compost 100% of our leaves and stems. It leaves us with virtually no garbage. Recently Billies Flower House converted all our store light fixtures to power saving L.E.D.’s. When it comes to wrapping and packaging we only use paper bags in the store and chose card suppliers that use paper from sustainable wood sources. We recently sponsored the Mamquam School Edible Garden Project and have been featured on the Squamish Climate Action Network as a featured green business in Squamish.

We carry and source organic and eco-friendly body care and gift lines as well as featuring a beautiful selection of gifts by local and Canadian artisans.
